Biodiversity Plans

The open ground in the middle of the Greno Woods site is a rare heathland habitat which is currently threatened by the re-colonisation of birch trees.

The best way to protect the area is by fencing it off and grazing it with cattle and/or sheep. The current lack of drinking water means we would need to construct a pond, which in turn will help increase biodiversity. We will also need to control the bracken and clear the scrub to help protect and retain the area.

Essential restoration to main paths and trails nearby, to improve recreational use, would also be included in this plan.

We plan to make these changes before the end of February 2012.
